Real birders tend to carry binoculars, a scope and a Bird Guide. They want to make absolutely sure about what they see. Some day it might be a “new species“! Some birders make use of “digiscoping” in our experience a mixed blessing:

  • undeniably exceptional ‘reach” (bereik)
  • time consuming manual focussing
  • somewhat clumsy awkward handling of your equipment.
  • infact sometimes the only solution if birds ar really far away!
  • even action photography is possible!

Equipment required

  • high quality telescope
  • high quality digicompact
  • adapter connecting scope and digicompace (this element is crucial!)
  • preferably a remote control avoidibg vibrations most telescopes do noet suppor vibration reduction)
  • tripod and tripod head (some scopers manage to shoot pictures handheld),
  • skill (developed over time)
  • patience (ideally also of the bird(s) being photographed).
