“Bird photography”

Digital “bird photography” is a rather complicated type of photography: birds are often small, far away, active or fast moving or large and close by. They sing, walk, run, swim, dive, hunt, mate, feed, fight, fly or hoover high up in the air. Birds are often difficult to locate. Many birds are shy or extremely shy. Some birds may show themselves but a few seconds. Many species are (becoming) endangered species. So when entering their environment use camouflage and behave quietly. Develop knowledge of their sounds so you recognise them timely. All this takes skill, experience, expensive equipment and also some luck if you want to make your favourite pictures. On top of all this you need light, light and more light, which by the wasy is not always availablw in our country Holland.

It is surpising that so many people, yougsters, pensionados, women and men, keep throwing themselves into such frustrating activity and persistingly keep photographing these small fast moving objects at great distances, sometimes in dreadful wheather. We ourselves are no exception, we keep surprising ourselves, believe it or not. Once a birder, always a birder.
