Gay (Gaai): Photographed in Holland and subspecies Atricapillus (“with black cap”) at Lesbos:

Arabic Babbler (Arabische Babbelaar):

Magpie (Ekster): Clever, rather shy bird, common in Holland. Builds extremely large nest of branches in top of high tree. Predates juveniles of smaller species like warblers (zangvogels), etcetera.

Azure-winged Magpie (Blauwe Ekster): After many years of discussion promoted from subspecies to species and only observed in Algarve and somewhere in China. Common birds, not very shy, occasionaly in groups. Eats large insects.

Magpie Mauritanica (subspecies Mauritanica): Photographed in Morocco. Has small piece of blue-coloured naked skin next to eye an less white feathers.
